BILL

Automation of vendor and customer invoices, payments and spending, built for US SMBs and accounting firms

Comptabilité & finance

Overview

BILL, formerly Bill.com, automates the vendor and customer invoice cycle: receipt and reading of invoices, customizable approval workflows, payment by transfer, check or card, customer reminders and sync with accounting software. The official grid aimed at businesses displays four levels billed per user per month: Essentials at $49, Team at $65, Corporate at $89 and Enterprise on request. The spend and card management module, BILL Spend & Expense, is shown at $0 per user per month, with the publisher making money on card interchange. Accounting firms get dedicated offers, with a partner console at $49 per month and free access to the Spend & Expense module.

BILL is a US company whose product, documentation and support are English-only, with no French site or announced localization. Most importantly, payment rails center on the US (ACH, checks, US cards) and the spending module assumes a US bank account, making the tool barely workable for a French SMB paying vendors in SEPA zone. A public API and connectors to QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or Sage Intacct do allow deep accounting integration. Billing per user, from $49 per seat per month, also grows expensive as more approvers need access.

Our verdict

Best for businesses with US activity and high vendor invoice volume needing strong approval workflows and accounting sync. Not for a strictly French SMB: product in English, payment rails centered on the US and per-user billing that climbs with approver headcount.
