Fathom

Free unlimited AI notetaker that joins Zoom, Meet and Teams to transcribe, summarize and push meeting notes to CRM

Transcription & meetings

Overview

Fathom is an AI notetaker that joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams meetings to record, transcribe and automatically summarize exchanges, with extraction of decisions made and action items to follow. The tool also generates reusable video clips and pushes meeting notes to a CRM like HubSpot or Salesforce. The free plan is unlimited in meetings and transcriptions, which already covers the essential needs of a small organization. Advanced features (custom summary templates, team sharing, automated CRM sync) require the Premium plan at $20 per month ($16 billed annually), or the Team and Business plans, reserved for teams of two or more, starting at $15 and $25 per user per month respectively.

Fathom has no French-language site or interface: documentation and product remain in English, though the tool detects French speech and can automatically translate the summary into that language among 38 supported transcription languages. Data is hosted in the United States on AWS; the editor claims GDPR compliance with DPA signature available on request, which implies a data transfer outside the EU to be documented on the client side. Fathom offers a choice between a visible bot in the participant list or bot-free capture via the desktop application, a function still in beta. A public API and MCP access exist for custom integrations, but only from the Team plan onwards.

Our verdict

Best for small businesses and independents who want a free, unlimited AI notetaker to sync their meetings to a CRM with no upfront budget. Not for you if your team needs a French-language interface or European data hosting: Fathom remains English-only and stores everything in the United States, with GDPR compliance that relies on requesting a DPA separately.
