JetBrains AI Assistant
AI assistant integrated into JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm, Rider…) with completion, chat and Junie coding agent
Overview
JetBrains AI comprises code completion, contextual chat, edit suggestions and the autonomous Junie coding agent directly in JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, PhpStorm, Rider, RubyMine, RustRover, Android Studio). Pricing works via rechargeable AI credits: the AI Free offer is free and includes 3 credits every 30 days, sufficient for occasional completion. The AI Pro offer costs 100 EUR/user/year exc. tax (10 credits/30 days), AI Ultimate costs 300 EUR/user/year exc. tax (35 credits/30 days) for frequent agentic usage, and AI Enterprise costs 720 EUR/user/year exc. tax with enhanced security. Credit refills are possible at any time, one credit worth $1 USD, valid for twelve months.
The JetBrains website offers a French version and language selector, which facilitates purchasing and reading terms for a French-speaking organization. JetBrains documents data residency options and zero retention for Ultimate and Enterprise plans, as well as the exclusion of customer data from model training. The tool does not offer a public API for third-party integration outside JetBrains IDEs, but allows connecting your own keys (BYOK) to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock or Hugging Face. The main limit is the credit system, less clear than a standard unlimited plan: intensive use of the Junie agent depletes the monthly quota fast and forces buying extra credits mid-month.
Our verdict
Best for teams already equipped with JetBrains IDEs who want AI integrated natively without switching editors. Not for you if you're seeking unlimited AI usage at a fixed price: the rechargeable credit system makes the actual bill hard to predict in case of intensive Junie agent usage.
