Kiro

Kiro is an IDE built by Amazon on the basis of Code OSS (the open-source foundation of VS Code), designed around specification-driven development: the agent transforms a natural language request into specifications, task plans then code, with agentic hooks that trigger automatic actions on project events. The Free plan, free to use, includes 50 credits per month and access to open source models as well as Claude Sonnet 4.5. Paid plans per user per month are Pro at $20 (1,000 credits), Pro+ at $40 (2,000 credits), Pro Max at $100 (5,000 credits) and Power at $200 (10,000 credits), with extra credits billed at $0.04 per unit beyond the plan. The same tiers exist in team version with pooled billing.

Kiro offers no French interface: the website and documentation are English-only. As an Amazon product, Kiro relies on AWS infrastructure, whose Amazon documents compliance commitments at the platform level, but Kiro itself displays no specific GDPR mention on its site. The IDE uses the Open VSX registry rather than the official VS Code marketplace for extensions (proprietary Microsoft extensions like Pylance or C# Dev Kit are therefore absent), connects to MCP servers and AWS IAM Identity Center for team authentication. The main limit is this partial compatibility with the VS Code ecosystem: some widely used extensions are missing, and the credit system requires monitoring consumption on the Pro plans.
