Litera

Software suite for law firms: document drafting, comparison, metadata cleaning and AI-powered contract review with Kira

Legal

Overview

Litera builds a complete suite of tools for law firms and legal departments, centered on Litera One, an AI platform that unifies drafting, review and knowledge management within Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The catalog includes Litera Draft for drafting, Clean for metadata removal before sending, Transact for transaction management, Foundation for firm expertise, FileTrail for information governance, and Kira, the AI contract review tool acquired in 2021 and now sold under the Litera brand. No amounts are published on the official website: there is no pricing page and everything goes through a demo request.

Litera does not offer a French interface or website and historically targets large common law firms. Its strength is integration with the existing legal workspace: the editor lists connections with major document management systems, iManage, NetDocuments, Worldox and OpenText, plus SharePoint, OneDrive, Thomson Reuters HighQ, DocuSign and Microsoft SQL Server. It runs a technology partner program, Litera Connect, but does not document a public API for internal development. The tradeoff for the breadth of the catalog is complexity: modules sell separately, actual scope depends on the quote, and deployment requires an in-house IT team.

Our verdict

Best for large firms already equipped with iManage or NetDocuments who want to industrialize drafting, metadata cleaning and contract review without leaving Word. Not for you if your firm has fewer than twenty people: modular catalog, no public pricing and deployment requiring IT resources.
