Overview
Microsoft Security Copilot is a generative AI assistant dedicated to security teams, integrated across all Microsoft Security products (Defender, Sentinel, Intune, Entra). It analyzes incidents, summarizes alerts, generates KQL scripts, explains vulnerabilities and guides analysts in remediation, all in natural language.
Since November 2025, Security Copilot is included free for organizations holding at least 1,000 Microsoft 365 E5 licenses (400 SCU/month provided). Beyond this threshold, pricing is based on Security Compute Units (SCU) at $4/hour. For organizations already deeply embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem, it's the easiest security copilot to adopt.
Our verdict
Security Copilot is essential if your organization is full Microsoft (M365 E5, Sentinel, Defender): return on investment is immediate, especially with E5 inclusion. If you don't use the Microsoft ecosystem, the appeal is marginal. For SMBs on M365 Business Premium, the E5 barrier remains high:but monitor 2026/2027 pricing changes that could democratize access.
