Overview
Pennylane is the French solution that unifies accounting, invoicing and financial management in a single interface shared between the business owner and their accountant. Automatic categorization of bank transactions by AI significantly reduces manual entry, and accounting reconciliations happen near real-time.
The platform has been registered as a Partner Dematerialization Platform (PDP) by the French tax administration (DGFiP) since December 2025, which places it directly on the mandatory electronic invoicing reform coming into force in France in September 2026. Three plans (Basic at €14, Essential at €24, Premium at €79/month ex VAT) cover needs ranging from sole trader to SMEs with 15 employees, with a 15-day free trial.
Our verdict
Pennylane is the best choice for a French SME that wants fluid collaboration with its accountant without switching tools, and it only makes sense for a company that files its accounts in France. PDP registration is a real advantage for planning ahead for 2026. Avoid if you have no accountant or are looking for a free solution: entry-level plans remain limited.
