Photoroom specializes in AI-assisted product photography: one-click background removal, replacement with styled backdrops, automatic resizing for marketplace formats (Amazon, Etsy, Instagram), and light retouching. The mobile app is particularly well-designed for smartphone photography.

The Photoroom API lets you embed background removal directly in an e-commerce pipeline or ERP, starting at ~$0.02 per image. The free plan includes 250 monthly exports with watermark, enough to evaluate the tool.

Our verdict

Photoroom is the best tool in this category for e-commerce sellers and artisans who want clean product photos without a studio. No direct competitor at this SME segment. Not suitable if you need creative image generation or complex retouching: Clipdrop or Adobe Firefly will do better.
