Overview
Public is a US brokerage integrating Alpha, an AI suite powered by GPT-4 covering 9,000+ companies. The assistant answers natural language questions on fundamentals, earnings history and news. Generated Assets (launched 2025, ranked #1 AI Tool by StockBrokers.com in 2026) lets you create custom thematic indices via plain-English prompts, backtest them then invest directly (minimum $1,000). AI Agents (launched March 2026, limited waitlist access) automate portfolio strategies described in natural language and can execute orders autonomously. Stock and ETF trading is commission-free; the Premium plan ($10/month or $96/year) unlocks Morningstar reports, extended hours trading and custom alerts.
Public is available in the US for all features. A UK version launched July 2023 (US stocks, commission-free trading), but Alpha AI and AI Agents availability for UK users is not confirmed. The platform is unavailable elsewhere in Europe. A trading API (read/write, stocks, ETFs, options, crypto) is included free with no approval process. Public itself is the broker (no third-party broker integration). English-only interface.
