QuickBooks
Intuit's international accounting software, withdrawn from France but still available in its global version
Overview
QuickBooks is the most widely used accounting software in the English-speaking world, published by Intuit. It covers invoicing, expense tracking, payroll and reporting with a clear interface and thousands of integrations. Intuit AI (Intuit Assist) offers automatic categorizations, cash flow forecasts and tax suggestions tailored to the American or British context.
One point matters above all if you operate in France: QuickBooks officially left the French market on December 31, 2023. The service is no longer available to new customers in France, and compliance with French accounting rules (the Plan Comptable Général, French VAT, the 2026 electronic invoicing reform) is not assured. The international version remains usable by French-registered businesses trading mainly for export or with English-speaking clients.
Our verdict
Not to be recommended as the main accounting system for a company registered in France: no Plan Comptable Général compliance, no French-language support, no coverage of the 2026 invoicing reform. Relevant only for French subsidiaries of English-speaking groups or DTC e-commerce exporters. Prefer Pennylane, Indy or Dougs depending on your size.
