Relativity

Leading cloud e-discovery and legal data-management platform, with AI-assisted document review

Legal

Overview

Relativity (RelativityOne) is a cloud e-discovery and legal data-management platform used for investigation, contract review, legal hold administration, data-breach response, and access requests. The aiR for Review module adds AI-assisted review and predictive coding to accelerate sorting of large document volumes. The editor announces flexible pricing, with pay-as-you-go or one- to three-year commitment to reduce cost, but publishes no amounts: each quote goes through a dedicated form (Request Pricing). Relativity is a North American e-discovery market standard, notably through its technology partnership with Microsoft.

Relativity does not offer a French-language interface on pages reviewed, and the editor does not publicly document a GDPR policy or European data residency on its site. The platform natively integrates with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint for data collection, iManage for direct collection from law-firm document-management systems, and Brainspace for machine-learning-assisted analysis and sorting. Extensibility via App Hub and an MCP connector exist for custom needs. The tool requires e-discovery expertise to be fully leveraged and targets law firms and corporate legal departments handling large data volumes, beyond the reach of an SME without structured litigation.

Our verdict

Best for law firms and corporate legal departments managing investigations or high-volume litigation who want a market standard with Microsoft 365 integration. Not for you if you need occasional use or are a small structure without in-house e-discovery expertise: the learning curve and request-based pricing don't justify an ad-hoc need.
