SciSpace
Read, understand, and write academic papers with an AI copilot built into the PDF and writing editor
Overview
SciSpace (formerly Typeset) offers an AI copilot directly in the PDF reader: ask questions about any paper, get explanations of math formulas and figures, summarize a paper in one click. The platform also includes a literature search engine across 282 million articles, an academic paraphrase tool, and a formatting editor supporting over 40,000 journal templates.
The free version offers limited copilot queries, basic summaries, and a Chrome extension. The $12/month Premium plan unlocks unlimited AI queries, unlimited paraphrasing, and full template access. The Teams plan is $20/user/month. Interface is in English, but questions can be asked in French through the copilot.
Our verdict
Best for master's and PhD students and researchers reading many English-language papers who want to understand them quickly or format them for submission. Not for you if you need large-scale structured data extraction: Elicit is superior for systematic reviews.
