Signifyd
E-commerce fraud protection with financial guarantee on approved orders, charged as a percentage of the basket
Overview
Signifyd decides in real time, order by order, whether an e-commerce transaction should be accepted or refused, and assumes financial responsibility for its decision: in the event of fraud-related non-payment on an order it approved, the editor reimburses the merchant. Around this foundation, the platform covers customer account protection, strong authentication exemptions, payment authorization optimization, chargeback disputes, and return-abuse detection. Pricing is explained on the official page but without any amounts: Signifyd charges a percentage of the order total when approved and nothing when refused for fraud. This percentage depends on product type, sector, volume, and average basket.
Signifyd offers neither an interface nor a site in French: the platform, documentation, and support are in English, even though the editor has an EMEA presence and content for the European market. No EU data residency commitment is featured on product pages, something to clarify with the editor if your GDPR impact assessment requires it, since the solution handles customer order and payment data by nature. Technical integration, however, is solid: a public API documented on developer.signifyd.com and connectors for Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, NetSuite, and commercetools. The main limitation is economic: a percentage deducted from each approved order becomes costly as volume increases.
Our verdict
Best for online merchants whose fraud losses or abusive refusal rates truly weigh on margin and who want to transfer financial risk to a third party rather than bear it themselves. Not for you if your fraud volume is low or if no one on your team works in English: the percentage on each approved order can cost more than the fraud avoided.
