Ahrefs vs Mangools: the pro suite against the independent's tool
Between Ahrefs and Mangools, the price gap is so large you must ask the question differently: Mangools isn't a cheaper Ahrefs, it's a tool that deliberately gave up half the scope to stay affordable.
Ahrefs starts at 119 €/month for Lite. Mangools starts at $29/month, dropping to $19.90/month with annual commitment. The ratio is one to five. What you lose along the way is precise and sums to one sentence: the depth of the link index and the ability to work on multiple sites in parallel.
Pricing checked in July 2026. Ahrefs displays in euros, Mangools in dollars: for a French SME, add your bank's exchange fees to the Mangools price.

The detail, criterion by criterion
Real entry price
Lite at 119 €/month: 5 projects, 750 tracked keywords, 100,000 crawl credits. The Starter plan at 27 €/month exists but allows neither rank tracking nor site audit: it's not a working plan.
Entry at $29/month, Basic at $49/month. With annual commitment, entry drops to $19.90/month and Basic to $29.90/month, a 30-40% saving. All suite tools are accessible from the first paid tier.
Backlink index
The most complete link index on the market, fed by AhrefsBot, one of the most active web robots after Googlebot. That's Ahrefs' historical argument and the main reason for its price.
LinkMiner relies on a narrower index. Enough to check a direct competitor's profile or find a few opportunities, not enough for comprehensive link audit or a disavow campaign.
Keyword research
Keywords Explorer covers over ten engines, with SERP detail, difficulty, traffic potential and related questions. French volumes are reliable.
KWFinder is Mangools' core and its best piece: immediately readable interface, clear difficulty, relevant suggestions in French. Many consultants prefer it for comfort, on comparable data for regular queries.
Number of projects and sites
5 projects on Lite, 20 on Standard (229 €/month), 50 on Advanced (419 €/month). Scaled for an agency tracking multiple clients.
Quotas designed for one or two sites. The Agency plan at $129/month ($89.90 annually) expands it, but stays below what Ahrefs Standard allows.
Technical audit
Complete Site Audit: site crawl, errors sorted by severity, tracking over time, comparison between two crawls.
SiteProfiler gives a domain overview, not actionable technical audit. To spot crawl errors or indexing issues, you need another tool.
Learning curve
A dense suite needing several weeks to truly exploit reports. Time spent is a real cost.
Five simple tools, one per use, with an interface that doesn't overwhelm beginners. You produce a useful first report in an hour.
Choose Ahrefs if…
An agency, an e-commerce or a publisher tracking multiple sites, doing serious link building and needing technical audit in the same subscription. At this usage level, the 119 €/month pays for itself on a single client.
Choose Mangools if…
An independent, a tradesperson or a small business managing one site, wanting to find keywords and track positions without spending all their time on it. At $19.90/month annually, the tool pays for itself on the first well-ranked article.
Our verdict
Don't choose by price, choose by number of sites. Below two tracked sites and no link-building campaign, Ahrefs is oversized: you'll pay 119 €/month to use a fifth of the tool, and Mangools does the same job for five times less.
As soon as you audit link profiles, track more than two sites or need to justify a technical audit to a client, Mangools' index shows its limits and you'll end up paying both. Might as well take Ahrefs straight away.
The third case is common and no one says it: Mangools for daily work, plus a month of Ahrefs ad hoc when you have a big audit to deliver. Ahrefs bills monthly with no commitment on Lite through Advanced plans.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mangools a good Ahrefs alternative?
For keyword research and rank tracking on a single site, yes, and for five times less. For backlink analysis, no: LinkMiner's index is much narrower than Ahrefs', and that's exactly what you're buying when you pay for Ahrefs.
What is Mangools' price in euros?
Mangools displays pricing in dollars: $29/month for Entry, $49 for Basic, $69 for Premium, $129 for Agency, with 30-40% savings on annual payment. Add today's conversion rate plus your card's exchange fees, typically 1-3%.
Can you use Ahrefs and Mangools together?
That's common among consultants: Mangools on permanent subscription for daily work, Ahrefs taken monthly when a heavy link audit or competitor analysis justifies it. Ahrefs Lite through Advanced plans are month-to-month with no commitment.
We look at what you actually need and tell you which one to set up (or a third that fits better).
