Doctolib
Medical appointment platform and practice management software for healthcare professionals, with HDS-certified French health-data hosting
Overview
Doctolib is the leading French medical appointment platform and practice management software deployed nationwide. On the patient side, it lists practitioners by specialty and location and manages booking, cancellation, reminders and video consultation. On the professional side, Doctolib Pro covers shared calendar, absence management, video consultation, patient file, billing and claim submission. The publisher does not publish a pricing grid: its pricing page asks you to select your activity and then discuss with an advisor, with monthly billing without commitment or annual billing that Doctolib says can save up to 168 EUR per year. Nothing in the announced model is charged per appointment booked: the cost is a subscription plus one-off setup fees. The only posted figure concerns Doctolib Physician, for which the publisher announces setup fees of 499 to 2,000 EUR inc. tax.
Doctolib is a French publisher, fully French-language, and the only tool in this panel subject to health data obligations. The company documents certified French health-data hosting (HDS), issued by the National Digital Health Agency and mandatory for anyone holding patient data in France, hosting with an HDS-certified provider, health data encryption and ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. If you practise outside France, HDS is not the approval your own regulator will ask about, and the two ISO certifications are the part of that list that travels. Appointment reminders and absence reduction are part of the core feature set. In return, pricing is entirely opaque: no way to know what you will pay before the sales call, and announced setup fees up to 2,000 EUR inc. tax weigh on a new practice. Doctolib does not publish a publicly accessible API, and the platform is reserved for healthcare professionals with no use outside this scope.
Our verdict
Best for independent practitioners and French practices who want maximum patient visibility, a shared calendar and certified French health-data hosting (HDS), which is mandatory for patient data in France; outside the country neither the platform nor that certification has any purchase. Not for you if you want to know the price before talking to sales, or if your setup budget is tight: announced setup fees go up to 2,000 EUR inc. tax on the Physician plan.
